At OsoChic we believe it’s the moral values & integrity of a person that makes an ethical breeder. We are committed to being ethical; applying standards of behaviour & practice to our conduct. This, the undeniable beauty & temperament of our glorious Ragdolls & their kittens and all the wonderful testimonials we've received over the years from families that now have their own

O-so-Chic kitten, are the best endorsement possible we feel, well, that & our Cats' Show Achievements :)

These facts all contribute considerably to a persons 'peace of mind' when choosing the right Ragdoll breeder for them.

We do NOT house our feline family in cages or outdoor pens. IF we plan a mating queens are of optimum health, having

waited the advised length of time recommended by the GCCF. Any remuneration goes into supporting our love of this breed; providing our cats & their kittens with all they need for a full & enriched life through supplemented nutrition, quality

food, play stimuli, holistic health treatments, veterinary care, annual testing, annual health screening, annual inoculations,

& us continuing as exhibitors & supporting Ragdoll welfare organisations caring for abandoned/elderly Ragdolls.

We are always happy to offer help, advice & mentoring, to those who adopt a 'show quality' Ragdoll kitten from us.

  • Is a Ragdoll cat right for me? - If you want a large cat that is non-agressive, loves to be with people & is very placid, you may wish to consider a Ragdoll. Also, if you love the look of a semi-longhaired cat but don't want the constant grooming that say a Persian cat demands, a Ragdoll would be a good choice. The gentle Ragdoll kitten is also good with children & is easy to introduce into a multi pet house hold. Our pedigree Ragdoll kittens grow up under foot in our home and are very well socialised with everyone.

  • How many litters do you have a year? At OsoChic our cats are only bred once a year. Our aim is produce Quality Pedigree kittens

from Quality Pedigree Show Cats, leading the way in raising the standards of breeding.

  • What are some of the characteristics of the Ragdoll cat? - Ragdolls are by nature a relaxed, loving, docile breed. They love to have their tummies rubbed & sleep lying next to you. Ragdolls are very responsive & intelligent. They enjoy being with people & other pets as they are very social. Many can learn tricks of retrieve & fetch just like a dog! As kittens they tend to have a mad hour in the evening, whereby they are an amazing source of entertainment.

  • When are the kittens old enough to leave for their new home? Any reputable breeder will keep them until a minimum of 13 - 14 weeks of age, as recommended by the GCCF.

  • Are 'all' Ragdoll cats placid & docile? - No, it's my belief if they have been brought up in a pen outdoors or where they haven't had much human contact, then these kits can be skittish, timid & hand shy. Never underestimate the start of your kitten's life! The first 13 weeks shape the kitten's life for the future.

  • Are Ragdoll cats vocal? - They do not chat loudly like Siamese but do make a cute 'chirrup' sound when communicating with you. Without sounding too much like a loon, you can actually identify what they want by each of the little variations of chirrups they make - usually involves you chatting back to them, 'chirrup style' !

  • Do all Ragdoll cats have blue eyes? - Yes. And when born their bodies are always of pure white fur.

  • Do Ragdoll cats get along with other animals? - Yes, usually very well actually. As long as introduced properly & gradually. They usually become great buddies as Ragdolls really appreciate having a play mate whether that is another cat or a pooch.

  • Can I breed from a OsoChic Ragdoll kitten? - No. They will be neutered. We don't sell kittens endorsed to breed within the UK.

  • Can I 'show' a OsoChic Ragdoll Kitten? Yes of course, we would be delighted if you did. Showing can be very satisfying for the owner as well as enjoyable for the cat, however, there is a difference between pet quality & show quality kittens, so please let us know this is your intention & we will help select a suitable candidate for the show bench for you; ensuring it meets the 'GCCF standard of points'.

You may wish to register with another 'Governing Body' as well, so you gain experience at the smaller, less stringent shows prior to exhibiting at a GCCF show. This will enable you to gain experience with exhibiting & show preparation. Kittens are able to be shown

from 14 weeks, though we would advise leaving the kitten to at least 16 weeks before showing so they are able to settle in at home first

& be confident & at ease with you. Please be aware, not all kittens qualify as 'show quality'.

  • Are Ragdoll cats indoor cats? - YES. Ragdolls have no fear factor! So can be run over (which is often the case), or stolen (which is on the increase). They will happily adopt any stranger that approaches them, so could be easily kit-napped.

  • Can I build an outside enclosure for my Ragdoll cat? Yes. Ragdolls ARE indoor cats but we feel the benefit of having controlled secure access to the outside to experience the elements outweighs the possible risks. We value our cats health holistically; this includes their mental, emotional & physical wellbeing. They love basking in dappled sunshine & go batty in the wind, smelling all the scents

whilst watching the bees, birds & butterflies. Jon built a Koi pond in front of ours so they have their own television lol :) NB- The outside area MUST BE regularly disinfected with vet quality detergent that kills bacteria & viruses, just to be on the safe side.

  • When visiting can we see the kitten's Mum & Dad? - Yes.

  • Are OsoChic Ragdolls Queens & King health tested? - Yes, all our felines are vaccinated & FIV & FeLV tested annually & they are HCM

& PKD tested; in order for them to have the best possible chance of a healthy & happy life.

  • What is the life expectancy of a Ragdoll cat? - Approx' 16 years if cared for correctly.

  • Which sex makes better pets, boys or girls? - Once a kitten is desexed all Ragdolls can be merited as an individual & as such their own personalities & idiosyncrasies will be displayed without the undesirable hormone triggers. I have not noticed a gender difference, everyone's an individual. Generally 'you get out what you put in' irrespective of any other factors.

  • If the house is empty most days would a Ragdoll cat be lonely? - Yes, unless you have another suitable animal as company for them they would miss you terribly & become lonely, which may cause psychological problems or undesirable habits; this is when folk reserve

2 siblings from us.

  • Will I have to provide a litter tray? - Yes, you'll need atleast 2, and you'll need to keep them regularly cleaned (daily) to avoid accidents & illnessess, or bad habits forming due to not using as full!

  • How much grooming do Ragdoll cats need? - Once a week is great. Their fur is like rabbit fur, so soft, & as such doesn't matt easily,

but still needs a brush to promote their natural oils & keep them silky & stunning. They do get a 'winter coat' so will shed in Spring.

  • Do Ragdolls scratch furniture? - All cats have the potential to do this, this is why you need to provide a scratch post & why we train ours to use one before they leave us. It's important they can shed the sheath over their nails on occasion & a post enables this.

  • How do I go about reserving a OsoChic Ragdolls kitten? - See our CONTACT page.

  • When do I pay my deposit? - A non-refundable deposit of £100 'after' viewing kitten.

  • When do I pay the balance? - Cash on the day of collection or a bank transfer the day before collection.
  • Are OsoChic Ragdolls' Kittens Pedigree kittens? - Yes, new owners receive genuine GCCF pedigree paperwork validating this.

  • Will OsoChic Ragdolls' Kittens be registered with GCCF? - Yes, on their non-active register. You have to have BOTH kitten's parents registered on the active register with the GCCF to get a GCCF registered kitten.

  • What is the GCCF? - The UK's Premier Registration Body for Cats - The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy.

We pride ourselves on our ethics & code of practice at 'OsoChic Ragdolls' We believe it beneficial to the holistic

welfare of our feline family & their offspring, & that, we feel is priceless.
