Frequently Asked Questions to OsoChic Ragdolls

Is a Ragdoll Kitten or Cat a good match for me?

Selecting the right cat breed characteristics that align with your family's dynamics is crucial for ensuring a joyful and fulfilling future for both you and your kitten. Making this thoughtful choice will greatly enhance the bond you share and the happiness you both experience.

⭐️  Is a Ragdoll cat right for me? If you're looking for a large, non-aggressive cat that thrives on companionship and has a calm nature, a Ragdoll could be the perfect fit. They have semi-long hair that requires less grooming than a Persian, making them an ideal choice for those who want a beautiful cat without the extensive upkeep. Ragdoll kittens are gentle and fantastic with children, adapting well to multi-pet households.

⭐️ What are the characteristics of a 'pedigree' Ragdoll cat?  Ragdoll cats are calm, loving, and gentle. They enjoy having their tummies rubbed and like to sleep next to you. These cats are smart and responsive. They love being around people and other pets because they are very social. Many can learn tricks like fetching just like dogs! Young Ragdolls often have a playful "zoomy" hour in the evening, which can be very entertaining.

⭐️ Are all Ragdolls placid & docile? Not all Ragdoll cats are calm and friendly. If they grow up in an outdoor pen or have little human interaction, they may become skittish, timid, and shy. The first 13 weeks of a kitten's life are very important for their future behavior. We help our kittens become loving, but their new owners must continue to nurture this trait.

⭐️Are Ragdolls indoor cats? Yes, Ragdolls have no fear factor! So can be run over (which is often the case), or stolen (which is on the increase). They will happily adopt any stranger that approaches them, so could be easily kit-napped. They can be picked on by outdoor cats too as they're not aggressive. Supervised/ leash walking, within the garden is ok but a catio is awesome.

⭐️If the house is empty most days would a Ragdoll cat be lonely? Yes, unless you have another suitable animal as a companion. They would become lonely without company, which may cause psychological problems or undesirable habits; this is when folk reserve 2 siblings from us.

⭐️Do Ragdolls get along with other animals? Yes, usually very well as long as introduced properly & gradually. They usually become great buddies as Ragdolls really appreciate having a play mate whether that is another cat or a friendly, respectful pooch.

⭐️Do Ragdolls scratch furniture? All cats have the potential to do this, this is why you need to provide a scratch post & why we train ours to use one before they leave us. It's important they can shed the sheath over their nails, & a post enables this.

⭐️Do Ragdolls need grooming? Once a week is great. They shed in Spring & Autumn, so require a thorough brush at these times.

⭐️  Are Ragdolls vocal? They make a  'chirrup' sound when communicating with you.

⭐️What is the life expectancy of a Ragdoll cat? Approximately 15 years.

⭐️ Do all Ragdoll cats have blue eyes? Yes.

⭐️ When visiting can we see the kitten's Mum?  Yes.

⭐️ Are OsoChic Ragdoll breeding cats health tested?  Yes.

⭐️ Will I have to provide a litter tray?  Yes,   2 per cat
